Ahmed Musa has played down speculation linking him with a move to Sheffield Wednesday.

The 28-year-old is a free-agent after leaving Saudi side Al-Nassr last month, and has recently been linked with a move to the Owls.

Pete O'Rourke reported yesterday that Wednesday were lining up a move for Musa, as they look to bolster their attacking options.

But speaking to BBC Africa, Musa has revealed that he won't be joining Wednesday, with the player still searching for a top-flight club.

He said: "I don't know where the story [potential move to Sheffield] is coming from because I don't pay attention to rumours and gossip.

"With due respect to the club, I left Saudi Arabia to continue my career at the top level in Europe and that's the ambition."

This means that Wednesday will now have to consider other options, as Pulis desperately looks to add a new attacking player to his squad.

Jack Marriott recently returned to Derby County after picking up an injury, which has left the Owls light of options in attack.

Here, we take a look at three free-agent alternatives to Musa that Pulis should consider...

Fabio Borini

Borini is a free-agent after leaving Hellas Verona at the end of last season.

The former Sunderland, Liverpool and Chelsea scored three goals in 14 games for Verona, and is still searching for a new club.

Borini was linked with Watford and Swansea at the start of this season, but he's since failed to find a new club and is training alone.

He can play out wide or through the middle, and would be a very useful option for the Owls.

Yaya Sanogo

Sanogo was very close to signing for Neil Warnock's Middlesbrough in the summer, however a move broke down to the forward.

The former Arsenal striker is on the lookout for a new club after leaving Toulouse at the end of the season, scoring four goals last term.

He is a strong, quick, tall striker who could be a useful asset for the Owls.

Oumar Niasse

Niasse was released by Everton at the end of last season after a torrid spell at Goodison Park, and is still on the lookout for a new club.

The 30-year-old only managed to score nine goals in 42 games for the Toffees, and struggled to impress out on loan at Hull and Cardiff.

Niasse has a point to prove, though, and a drop down to the Championship could see him get back to his best in front of goal.
