AFC Wimbledon have had an amazing season, their highest ever finish in the pyramid since they were reformed.

In the end they finished comfortably in the top seven, six points clear.

They were set up on May 30, 2002, and 14 years to the day on from that, they will travel to Wembley to face Plymouth Argyle, with the prize being promotion to the third tier and two matches against MK Dons next term.

Their squad is amongst the best in League Two, and a seventh placed finish was more than deserved on the balance of the whole season. They can be proud of their season, no matter what the outcome is on Bank Holiday Monday.

Here, in the opinion of FLW's Ryan Evans, are THREE Wimbledon players that are worth their weight in gold.....

Adebayo Akinfenwa

Operating mainly as a substitute, someone of his power and strength is not found regularly throughout the top four tiers, and can be an invaluable asset, just because he is nearly impossible to defend against.

He has a decent strike on him, and whilst he has only scored seven goals, the amount of chances he has created for his teammates through his play is mind-boggling.

When the 34-year old scores, it's generally important. His winner against Plymouth set them up for a good end to the season, and his goal in the second leg against Accrington took the tie to extra time.

Torquay United, Swansea City and Northampton Town are just three of the many clubs that has once been home to the player nicknamed "The Beast", who is highly experienced throughout the football league.

Lyle Taylor

Easy shout. Dons' top scorer with 21 goals, three times more than anyone else.

After a slow start, he's definitely warmed to the season, and his seven goals in his last nine means he is definitely someone who Plymouth should watch out for in their play-off final. They will know all about him, as he scored in Wimbledon's 2-1 win over Argyle at Home Park earlier this season.

A player who can score regular goals is such a commodity, and there aren't too many in the fourth tier who have more to their name than Taylor.

Jake Reeves

The 22-year-old has been a mainstay in Neal Ardley's team, scoring once but making the midfield tick. He turns defence into attack, and sits just in front of the back four to keep it tight.

His performances against Accrington in the play-offs were sensational, and his run in the build-up to Taylor's winner was sensational under that kind of pressure.
