Notts County have picked up pace in the EFL League Two campaign recently, and look a team on the ascent with John Sheridan at the helm.

Despite only recording their first home league win last Saturday afternoon with a 3-1 win over Leyton Orient, the Magpies have won three out of four away games, and sit in 9th place after nine games played, just two points of the automatic promotion places.

With talisman Jon Stead firing on all cylinders, Notts have made a drastic improvement on last term, in which was a truly dismal campaign, of where they were the bookies' favourites for promotion, however eventually culminated in a 17th place finish.

But, after four wins, two draws, and three losses, the Magpies travel to Devon to face a struggling Exeter City side, who sit in 20th position in the league table.

After a 2-0 away win at Stevenage on Saturday though, it will be a tough test for Sheridan's men, so here, FLW writer George Harbey suggests his starting 11 that will surely beat Exeter City at St. James' Park on Tuesday night...

GK: Adam Collin

RCB: Thierry Audel

With Motherwell loanee Louis Laing suspended for Tuesday's encounter, following his dismissal against Leyton Orient on Saturday afternoon, in should step the versatile French defender.

The homegrown 23-year-old made his 100th appearance for the club against Cheltenham Town a couple of weeks ago, and looks to have made an impressive start to the 16/17 season, after recently coming back into the side.

Perhaps the best addition to the Notts ranks this term, the former Crewe captain and Shrewsbury powerhouse has been exceptional for Notts thus far this campaign, where he has spent the majority of it in the middle of the park, however has gone back into his more favoured position on the right.

RCM: Alex Rodman

Although he is normally a winger, the former Newport man has adopted more of a central attacking role in the midfield, however normally likes to interchange with Tootle on the right throughout the game.

CM: Michael O'Connor

The Magpies captain, O'Connor is an exceptional coup at League Two level for Sheridan.

The former Port Vale man scooped up the Valiants' Player of the Year award last term, making 70 appearances for the club before sealing a move to Nottingham in the summer.

LCM: Robert Milsom

Injuries cut Milsom's appearances short last term, however Sheridan has recently introduced him back into the Magpies' starting lineup, and has impressed the Meadow Lane faithful with his energy in the middle of the park, and has even forced star man Stanley Aborah out of the side.

LWB/LM: Carl Dickinson

Another new recruit and yet another Port Vale man, the former Watford and Stoke City left back made 127 appearances for the Vale, in his four year spell at the club.

The 30- year-old joined from Sheridan's former club Oldham Athletic in the summer, sealing a permanent deal with the Magpies after three previous loan spells at Meadow Lane.

Forte netted 18 times in 60 games for Oldham, and has already netted 3 times this season for Notts.
