Tony Mowbray and Coventry City will be hoping that the Sky Blues can finally pick up their first win of the season after a frustratingly slow start.

Coventry have managed just four points - all from draws - and three goals in their opening seven matches, which leaves the club 23rd in the league.

But things looked much much better against Millwall and Coventry were unlucky not to take away all three points.

There was enough in that performance for the fans and Tony Mowbray to take positives away from the game and believe that the first win is just around the corner.

The Sky Blues need that win to boost their confidence and it could act as a springboard for success this season.

He is likely to continue with his 3-4-3 formation this weekend, so this is the XI that he should put out to beat Oldham for Coventry's first victory this season...

GK: Reice Charles-Cook

One of the brightest things to come out of last season was Charles-Cook's introduction to the first team picture.

The 22-year-old won the hearts of fans with acrobatic, reflex saves on the pitch and funny social media use too.

Question marks still hang over his dominance, physicality and handling but the former Arsenal youngster is learning game by game.

RCB: Jordan Willis

Centre half Jordan Willis was linked with a move away on deadline day, but Coventry fans will breathe a sigh of relief as he opted to stay.

The 22-year-old academy product was born and raised in Coventry and has already played plenty of first team football, despite being injured for the whole of last season.

The former England under-19 is back and performing well whilst also captaining the side when Sam Ricketts is absent.

CB: Cian Harries

Cian Harriesmsa

Cian Harries is preferred to Sam Ricketts in this team despite being a raw talent for two reasons.

Firstly, Sam Ricketts doesn't seem to have the legs to play regular football so needs a rest.

Secondly, Cian Harries is probably better and less error-prone than Ricketts anyway.

The 19-year-old is a physical defender who made his debut against Oldham on the last day of last season and was man of the match so maybe he needs to be given another go against the Latics.

LCB: Jordan Turnbull

Jordan Turnbull joined from Southampton for an undisclosed fee this summer and is a big part of Mowbray's plans.

The 21-year-old is still quite raw and is learning but he has two years worth of League One experience with Swindon, which has equipped him well for this level.

The England under-20 international is the left-sided centre back that Mowbray wants so should continue in that role on the weekend.

RWB: Jamie Sterry

Jamie Sterry is highly regarded by parent club Newcastle and he showed glimpses of his potential with an assured showing against Millwall.

The 20-year-old is settling into the right wing back role by developing his attacking game whilst also offering defensive solidity to the side.

The 20-year-old will almost certainly be deployed in this position again when Coventry clash with Oldham.

CM: Gael Bigirimana

Gael BigirimanaGael Bigirimana

Bigirimana is back at Coventry with a point to prove and he's certainly doing just that at the moment.

After a dire spell at Newcastle, he returned to the club who gave him his football education to relaunch his career.

The Burundi international has been voted the Coventry man of the match in the last two matches and he ran the show against Millwall.

The The 22-year-old controls midfield with energy, tackling, interceptions, passing range and composure on the ball.

CM: Vladimir Gadzhev

Following the departures of highly-rated central midfield pairing Romain Vincelot and John Fleck, Vladimir Gadzhev has stepped up and filled the role.

The Bulgaria international is capable of playing as an attacking or a defensive midfielder so offers plenty in both departments.

The 29-year-old is a key player for the Sky Blues this year so Mowbray will probably keep him in the starting role this weekend.

LWB: Ryan Haynes

Ryan HaynesRyan Haynes

Lewis Page has been preferred in this position so far but hobbled off against Millwall on the weekend.

Ryan Haynes therefore could be set for a return to the line-up in place of the West Ham loanee.

Left wing back is the perfect position for the red-haired 20-year-old, who graduated through Coventry's academy.

Haynes has potential to be a very good player if he can apply himself, cut out the errors and start producing consistent performances for the Sky Blues.

RW: Jodi Jones

Jodi Jones is quite simply Coventry's best player.

The winger livened things up at Millwall when he came on for the final 15 minutes with exciting runs, which terrorise League One defences.

The 18-year-old is still waiting for his first goal but it can't be far off.

Jones holds the key to Coventry's success so they need him starting games, gaining confidence and he is getting better every game.

CF: Marvin Sordell

sordell

Marvin Sordell has had a tough few years but his goal against Millwall will give him loads of confidence ahead of this weekend's clash.

The former England under-21 and Great Britain international showed strength to hold the ball up, and immense skill to turn and smash a strike from 25 yards.

This highlights the 25-year-old's skill.

He was a natural goalscorer at Watford but lost his way recently and joined Coventry with a point to prove.

LW: Ruben Lameiras

Ruben Lameirasds

Ruben Lameiras went missing this weekend as he sometimes does.

However when he performs he can produce the magic which Coventry desperately need.

The 21-year-old is best in an attacking left role and the Portuguese attacking midfielder could turn into an exceptional player if he can add end product to his game.
