This weekend the Championship resumes having taken a two-week break to accommodate the UEFA Nations League fixtures.

The interval came after a pulsating month of second-tier action and all that comes to a head this weekend when the league resumes.

The fortnight away from competitive domestic action has given all the clubs in the division the chance to assess their start to the champaign and pinpoint areas that need improvement heading into the next batch of fixtures.

Darren Moore has had two weeks to work with his troops in order to keep them in form heading into this weekend’s visit to the DW Stadium to take on Wigan Athletic.

Having had the break, the Baggies’ boss will have a selection dilemma on his hands as to how he sets his side out when the Championship campaign resumes on Saturday afternoon.

With that said here is the West Bromwich Albion XI we expect Moore to field from the start this weekend when they face Wigan.

A West Brom ever-present between the sticks this season but he has only kept one clean-sheet this term and will be looking to add a second when they travel to Lancashire to take on Wigan.

Having been an outcast at the start of the season, Craig Dawson has been a star at the back for West Brom and is expected to make his ninth Championship appearance at the weekend.

Another ever-present for Darren Moore’s side this year he has shown Premier League quality at times, as well as some Sunday league naivety.

Ahmed Hegazi should start this weekend and is expected to extend his continuous run in the side.

Consistency is a proven ingredient to success, and the third ever-present for West Brom is expected to carry on that run this weekend.

Kyle Bartley scored his first goal for the club last time out against Reading and will be hoping lightning will strike twice on Saturday afternoon.

The winger is expected to be fit and available for this weekend’s visit to the DW Stadium.

Matt Phillips has missed the last three matches with a muscle strain after being forced off in the win over Millwall last month.

Fit-again, it is expected he will start on Saturday afternoon.

Having made 12 appearances this season, a 13th is expected to be made when he lines up from the start come Saturday afternoon.

Jake Livermore is the engine in the middle for West Brom and will be looking to add to his couple of assists picked up so far.

Seven appearances this term and three from the off, the third being in the 4-1 win over Reading last time out, Gareth Barry will be hoping to make it a fourth start from eight this weekend.

Having adapted to a left-wing back position under Darren Moore, West Brom’s Kieran Gibbs has been one of the most consistent performers for his club side this season.

It is fully expected that the 29-year-old will continue in that role against Wigan.

The mercurial attacker on loan from Leicester has been one of the standout players for West Brom this term.

Harvey Barnes has played his part in every single league game this term, and the 20-year-old will be hoping to add to his five goals and two assists this weekend.

It is fully expected that Barnes stars this weekend.

It is fully expected that Jay Rodriguez will start this weekend and look to add to his seven goals in the league this season.

He is one of the main reasons why West Brom sit second in the division and getting on the scoresheet this weekend could see his side climb to the top of the division.

West Brom’s top scorer this season with eight goals is fully expected to partner Jay Rodriguez in attack once more in the hope he can add to his one assist and impressive haul of eight goals in 11 matches.
