Leeds United disappointed in the Sky Bet Championship last season, failing to mount the promotion push many expected at Elland Road.

Despite the best efforts of Thomas Christiansen, and then Paul Heckingbottom, Leeds finished just 13th, way short of the top-six.

Marcelo Bielsa has been the man tasked with getting Leeds in contention next season, with Leeds moving to appoint the 62-year-old on a two-year deal ahead of the 2018/19 campaign.

Bielsa has an outstanding reputation in the world of football, with experience in South America and Europe, as well as on the international stage.

The 62-year-old’s tactical nous is admired worldwide, with his 3-3-1-3 formation offering great flexibility.

It remains to be seen if Bielsa turns to his favoured formation at Elland Road, but here at FLW, we use that system, putting together a dream XI that Leeds could take into next season…

Leeds need a new goalkeeper, with Gunn on their radar. If the Man City stopper arrives, he will expect to start.

Leeds have been linked with Tottenham’s Foyth, with Bielsa looking to make use of his relationship with Mauricio Pochettino.

Bartley was a top target for Leeds at the start of the summer.

It remains to be seen if Leeds make a move for the £3.15m-rated defender now Bielsa is in charge, but the centre-back would be perfect back in the heart of defence and an upgrade on Liam Cooper.

If Jansson is still around next season he will keep his place at centre-back.

Bielsa's system will see Ayling pushed further forward into a wing-back role.

Ayling’s role as an ‘inverted winger’ will also see him tuck into a central midfield role at times, a position he occasionally played earlier in his career.

Forshaw is likely to be the man in pole position to play in central midfield, although he might be moved into Bielsa’s back-three.

Pearce will have a similar role to Ayling, but on the left.

We’ve seen Pearce look good going forward and the extra freedom will help the youngster excel.

It’ll be a shootout between Saiz and Pablo Hernandez for the No.10 role at Elland Road.

Saiz might just get the nod at the start of the season.

Leeds want to get Hernandez on board, with talks underway with the 27-year-old.

In a front-three, he can play on the right or centrally.

In this team, we’ve opted for him cutting in from the right.

Vydra is another on Bielsa’s radar already, with the 62-year-old keen to bring the Championship’s leading scorer on board.

It’s unlikely Leeds would land both Hernandez and Vydra, but if they did, it would be frightening.

Alioski could thrive under Bielsa in an advanced role.

The Macedonian flyer had a decent first season at Elland Road, and after a year of adapting, he could be dangerous in Bielsa’s system.
