Bottom of the table Sunderland are back in action tomorrow as they welcome Preston to the Stadium of Light.

Chris Coleman's men are nine games without a win and currently five points away from safety, so are in desperate need of a victory.

However, it will be a very tough test against a North End side that are chasing a play-off spot.

The Black Cats have had some positive news in the week though, with Paddy McNair and Kazenga LuaLua both back in training and the pair are expected to make the bench tomorrow.

As well as that, John O'Shea is expected to feature despite missing training for the majority of the week.

That leaves Coleman with a choice to make regarding the formation having gone with a back four instead of the three-man defence he often goes with.

Here we look at the XI he should go with tomorrow, in a 3-4-1-2 formation.

Jason Steele was sent off against QPR last week and Robbin Ruitier is injured, so Coleman has very little choice other than to recall the ex-Derby stopper.

The Ivorian is sure to start given the injury problems Sunderland have at the back.

The Irishman has had a poor season but Coleman needs experience in the circumstances.

Having completed his ban following a reckless challenge against Boro, the on-loan Chelsea man will come in on the left side of the back three.

The former Celtic man will need to provide the width from the right.

Paddy McNair would come in for Cattermole if fit but he can't start after another lay-off.

Cattermole needs to improve and will have to win the battle against an aggressive Preston midfield.

The Liverpool loanee has been one of few positives in recent weeks.

Assured in possession, the youngster will need to make the Black Cats tick going forward.

A left wing-back role is ideal for the way the former Everton man plays.

With Jonny Williams going off after half an hour last week, the responsibility will be on McGeady to unlock the defence with a bit of magic tomorrow.

Sunderland's lack of options up top are well known but Asoro is the best option for Coleman.

£3.15m-rated Ashley Fletcher has to be dropped after the performances he has put in since joining.

Maja will give energy, pace and determination to the attack.
