It's make or break time for Sunderland this evening - having been boosted by a Burton win at the weekend, they now have to plot a course past Nigel Clough's men themselves.

The Brewers beat Barnsley 3-1 to give Sunderland a huge advantage in the hunt for a place in the Championship, but a win for the Black Cats tonight would add to their promotion push.

They would move above Barnsley, still holding a game in hand, and look to be on course to join Luton Town in the second tier at the end of the month.

However, the games are coming thick and fast and there's bound to be ringing changes for Jack Ross' side. Players have been carrying knocks, not least striker Will Grigg, so what XI will he put out this evening? FLW thinks he should go with the following side...

We think he'll go back to a 4-2-3-1, the same compact and resilient formations he's used virtually all season. The key to this Sunderland team has been how tough to beat they are and that stems from the two holding midfielders protecting the back four.

A settled back four helps as well, which is why Tom Flanagan and Jack Baldwin have to start for Sunderland. There's been some changes at full back, but we can see Luke O'Nien keeping his place, with Bryan Oviedo a possible starter. The 29-year-old replaced Denver Hume at the weekend and could be in line for a shock start.

Grant Leadbitter sat out the win at the weekend, but with Lee Cattermole out injured we expect him to come back in. Dylan McGeouch has had to be patient this season but he'll surely keep his place too.

There's a range of attacking options available to Ross, but in order to secure the points we think he's going to ask a couple of players to push through the pain barrier. Both Will Grigg and Aiden McGeady have done so in recent weeks, but they have the quality to turn matches on their head.

That leaves George Honeyman to come back in after his suspension, with Lewis Morgan a creative force likely to be unleashed on Burton too.
