Tomorrow night there's a huge clash in League One, two former Championship clubs going head to head in search of three points.

Sunderland need the win to stay in touch with leaders Portsmouth, who are extending their lead once more after almost being caught.

The Black Cats opponents are Barnsley, also relegated last season and hoping to boost their own automatic promotion prospects.

Jack Ross' side are unbeaten in 13 games in all competitions, their last loss coming against the other relegated side, Burton Albion.

They're missing key players though, Lee Cattermole is definitely out with a clutch of others rated as doubtful.

With that in mind, FLW looks at the XI we expect to start for the Black Cats tomorrow night.

There's no need at all to change keepers.

McLaughlin is the number one and is relatively unopposed in the sticks for Jack Ross.

Matthews should carry on at right back, he's been calm and assured recently.

He's also been a key player in their long unbeaten run and whilst unspectacular, he is reliable.

Pressure from Brian Oviedo has meant there's a question mark over the left back role, but we expect Reece James to keep his place.

He's barely put a foot wrong and is developing into a fine player.

Glenn Loovens is almost fit again, but the form of Tom Flanagan will surely keep him in the side.

he's formed a good partnership with Jack Baldwin and will retain his place against Stendel's men.

Baldwin is the cornerstone upon which the Sunderland promotion bid is built.

He's been excellent this campaign and he works well with whichever partner he ends up alongside.

George Honeyman has played a variety of roles, but recently he's sat in the two-man midfield in front of the back four.

He'll keep his place there this week, especially with Cattermole out injured.

Much will depend on fitness, but there's a hope McGeouch will be fit and ready to take the place of Cattermole in midfield.

The recent draw with Walsall highlighted the need for a strong figure in this role and with Max Power out, all eyes are on the former Hibernian man.

Will he make it?

McGeady must be one of the first names on the team sheet now.

He's too good for League One and he proved it again at the weekend with a goal.

Gooch has been a revelation for his side in League One and he capped a fine display with a late equaliser this weekend.

He'll surely start, he's creative and adds guile to the attacking play.

Maguire came off the bench at the weekend, but we think he'll be back in the side this week.

He's got plenty of League One experience, he's scored some great goals and if he's fit he'll be one for the starting XI.

Maja didn't bag at the weekend, but he's a constant threat and will give Pinnock and Lindsay plenty to think about.

He has goals in him and Sunderland will hope he can find one, or maybe even a couple, to keep them in second place.
