Rudy Gestede has taken to his personal Twitter account to deliver a message to Middlesbroughâs supporters, after the striker was successful in appealing a three-match ban he had been handed.
The 29-year-old was dismissed after 28 minutes of Saturdayâs 1-0 defeat to Norwich City at Carrow Road, following a lunging tackle on Grant Hanley, which resulted in the referee quickly brandishing a red card.
Tony Pulis was set to be without Gestede for three fixtures, but Boro lodged an appeal to the FA over that suspension, which has now been won, with the striker now immediately available for selection in the Sky Bet Championship.
After winning his appeal, Gestede expressed his delight on Twitter, thanking the fans who had supported him in the process. However, the striker also had a message for those who had criticised him on social media â his message read:
Pulis will now have Gestede available for Middlesbroughâs clash with Reading in the Championship on Saturday, as well as upcoming fixtures against Cardiff City and Hull City, which the striker was set to miss through suspension.
Saturdayâs clash with Reading is the first opportunity Middlesbrough have to put their promotion push back on track, with Pulisâ side looking to haul themselves back into top-six contention, having fallen six points adrift of the play-offs.
The Verdict
Gestede has received plenty of criticism for his lack of goals this season, with Middlesbroughâs supporters making their displeasure known on social media over the last couple of days.
However, having won his appeal, Gestede has been bullish in his response to that criticism, appearing to take a swipe at those who have doubted him.
