Ritchie De Laet has said that he “just wants to get out on the pitch” following his loan switch to Australian side Melbourne City from Aston Villa.
The former Manchester United and Leicester City defender recently departed Villa Park after being surplus to requirements under Steve Bruce, having made just two appearances for Villa this term, both of them coming in the Carabao Cup.
And the 29-year-old right-back took to Twitter to express his happiness at signing for the Australian club.

Villa boss Steve Bruce recently said in a press-conference on Friday morning, that it had been a “frustrating time” for the defender, on the back of suffering a “serious injury”.
“It’s been a frustrating time for him. He suffered a serious injury. I think with the people I have at right-back, it was only right to let him get on with his career”, Bruce added.
I think this could come back to haunt Villa – De Laet had a good pre-season campaign and it speaks volumes that many Villa fans want him starting over Axel Tuanzebe and Ahmed Elmohamady at right-back.
