Brentford have once again managed to play one of the Sky Bet Championship’s most attractive brands of football this season, with Dean Smith’s side picking up some impressive results along the way.

However, last night’s 3-1 defeat to Cardiff City at Griffin Park left the Bees in 11th and eight points off the play-offs ahead of the run-in.

It looks like Brentford’s play-off push will fall short yet again, despite some encouraging performances.

Here at FLW, we don’t believe Brentford’s squad is far away and a couple of key additions could put them right in contention next year.

One player we believe could be perfect is Bersant Celina, who is the latest player we look at in our FLW Spotlight:

The 21-year-old is currently on-loan at Ipswich Town from Manchester City, with the forward making an encouraging impact under Mick McCarthy.

Celina has featured in 29 games this season, scoring seven goals for Ipswich and averaging 1.4 shots every time he takes to the field.

In possession, Celina is also impressive, averaging 31 passes per game and 1.3 key passes, which come at a high success rate of 76%.

The likelihood is that Celina will be returning to the Etihad Stadium in the summer, where his first-team opportunities will again look limited under Pep Guardiola’s Premier League champions-elect.

Another loan move to the Championship could be a real possibility, and if Brentford are looking to bolster their squad with real talent, the 21-year-old is certainly someone they should consider making a move for.
