Speaking to the Daily Star, David Meyler has insisted that his Hull City teammate, Kamil Grosicki, is the best in the Sky Bet Championship when he is on form.

Hull managed to retain the service of Grosicki over the summer transfer window, with the midfielder remaining at the KCOM Stadium despite the club suffering relegation back to the Championship, after just one season in the Premier League.

Grosicki’s form has been mixed during the opening two months of the Championship season, but the 29-year-old put in an impressive display against Birmingham City on Saturday, as Leonid Slutsky’s side put the Blues to the sword.

The midfielder bagged a goal and an assist in the 6-1 victory, with Meyler, 28, claiming that he is among the best in the Championship on his day, he said: “Kamil is a unique player.

“When Kamil fancies it, he’s the best player in the league, hands-down.

“When he’s bang at it, he’s unmarkable, he’s unplayable.”

Meyler, Fraizer Campbell, Jarrod Bowen, Markus Henriksen and Seb Larsson joined Grosicki on the scoresheet, as Slutsky’s side blew Birmingham away in East Yorkshire on Saturday.

That victory meant Hull head into this week’s international break in a positive mood, having ended a five game winless streak.

Hull currently sit 17th in the table, with Slutsky’s side picking up 12 points from their opening 11 fixtures.

The Verdict

Grosicki is undoubtedly an unbelievable talent, and Hull are lucky to have him in their squad.

However, the midfielder is far too inconsistent, and as Meyer points out, he is only among the best when he is at the top of his game.

Hull have endured a difficult start to their Championship return, and if they are serious about pushing on towards the play-offs, they will need Grosicki to maintain the form he showed against Birmingham on Saturday.
