According to Paul Taylor from the Nottingham Post, Armand Traore could be one player heading for the exit door at Nottingham Forest today – even if no other club comes in for him.

Aitor Karanka is looking to conduct some last minute business at the City Ground, in a bid to freshen up his faltering squad, who currently sit 15th in the Sky Bet Championship table.

A host of players could leave, with Traore perhaps the most high-profile amongst them, given the defender’s contribution this season.

Reporters from the Nottingham Post are claiming that Traore could even depart even if another club doesn’t come in for him – indicating Forest could look to terminate the defender’s contract.

So far this season, the 28-year-old has featured on 19 occasions across all competitions, but hasn’t been involved in either of Forest’s last two matchday squads, missing the FA Cup defeat to Hull City and Championship defeat to Preston North End.

Goals from Billy Bodin, Tom Barkhuizen and Daniel Johnson gave Karanka plenty to think about last night, as he watched his side suffer a humiliating 3-0 defeat to Preston at the City Ground.

The Verdict

Given Traore’s involvement under Mark Warburton earlier this season, this update is perhaps a surprise, but when you take into consideration how much Karanka has snubbed the defender since his appointment, you can begin to understand it.

Letting Traore leave for free would perhaps be the most surprising move from Forest, although the club will hope things can change in the coming hours.
