Blackburn Rovers defender Derrick Williams is set to join LA Galaxy, according to the Lancashire Telegraph.
Williams joined Blackburn from Bristol City in 2016, and has since made over 150 appearances across all competitions for Rovers.
The 28-year-old has endured a difficult campaign, featuring only 10 times in the Championship due to injury.
Williams has had difficulties with a quad injury which looks set to sideline him for months and after suffering a recurrence back in November.
The Irishman’s contract at Ewood Park is set to expire at the end of this season, but looks set to move away before then.
According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Williams is in Los Angeles as he looks to add the finishing touches to his move to LA Galaxy.
Williams won’t be able to feature for the Galaxy in their first few league games, with the MLS campaign set to begin in April.
This looks to be a move which suits all parties.
Williams has had a good four-and-a-half years at Blackburn and has been a great servant for the. club, but injuries have played their part in hampering his progress.
He is out of contract at the end of the season, and it is a shame to let such an influential figure leave the club for nothing.
But as he approaches the age of 28, it means that Rovers will be in the market for a younger option at centre-half in the summer.
