Nottingham Forest are on the march for promotion after a magnificent 2-0 win away at Middlesbrough on Saturday afternoon.

Boro had conceded just two goals in their previous ten league outings, and were yet to lose or concede at the Riverside in the league all season, until second-half goals from Joe Lolley and Lewis Grabban put an end to that fabulous run of form.

The win at the weekend was Forest's fourth win of the campaign, and Aitor Karanka's men are now unbeaten in their previous six league outings having lost just the once this term.

A short break has perhaps come at the wrong time for Karanka, with his side out of action until the 20th of October, as they prepare to face Norwich City at the City Ground, giving the Spaniard the chance to reflect on what has been a brilliant month or two.

Here, we take a look at the transfer business Forest should conduct in January.

The Forest and Ansarifard link just never seems to go away, and in late September it was a case of 'when' not 'if' the Iranian international would be signing for the club after being linked with a move to the City Ground.

The 28-year old forward recently played for Greek side Olympiakos and netted 17 times in 26 appearances last term.

Lewis Grabban has been in fine form recently for Forest, however with only Daryl Murphy as back-up and the January transfer window approaching, this should be the main priority for Karanka in the summer.

As well as Ansarifard, Forest could do much worse than signing Wolves outcast Leo Bonatini, who has endured a miserable 2018.

The 24-year old Brazilian has scored just one goal in his last 32 appearances for Nuno Espirito Santo's men, despite netting 12 goals in his first 22 appearances for the club.

Under Karanka's guidance, Bonatini could be a great signing for Forest.

It seems inevitable that Bridcutt will depart Forest in January, having made just three appearances for the Reds this term - only one of those coming in the league.

Forest have an array of options to pick from in midfield, and it seems even likelier by the week that the the 29-year old will leave in the winter.

After impressing out on loan at both Notts County and Scunthorpe United last term, many thought that Yates would have been good enough to earn a starting berth under Karanka this term.

But after loan moves to Rotherham United and Bolton Wanderers failed to materialise in the summer, you have to think that the 20-year old will surely be departing out on loan in January.
