Having already seen Ryan Babel, Lazar Markovic and Berti Schotterl leave the club this summer, Fulham are now set to wave goodbye to Jean Michael Seri.

According to the Evening Standard, the 27-year-old is close to joining Galatasaray on a season-long deal from the Cottagers, bringing his brief spell in London to an end.

Seri moved to Fulham in 2018 from Ligue 1 side Nice for a reported fee of £27m (via Transfermarkt) alongside central defender Maxime Le Marchand.

Although he established himself as regular fixture in Fulham's starting eleven by making 32 appearances in the Premier League, the Ivory Coast international failed to make a lasting impression in his debut season in English football as his side were relegated to the Championship in April.

With a deal between the Cottagers and Galatasaray expected to be wrapped up in the coming days, it is yet to be confirmed whether the Turkish side will be given the option to bring Seri in on a permanent deal once his loan expires in 2020.

The Verdict

Whereas Seri did shown glimpses of he is talent during the previous campaign, a lack of consistency ultimately limited the impact that he was able to have for Fulham and thus his departure may not be too much of a concern for the club's supporters.

With the Championship posing a different challenge altogether compared to the Premier League, there would have been no guarantee that the midfielder would have been able to cope in this particular division which can be extremely unforgiving to newcomers given it's unrivalled competitiveness.

Therefore, a move away this summer is probably the ideal scenario for both parties.

Whilst Fulham will be able to cut a significant amount of money from their wage bill (£35,000, as per the Sun) by letting Seri go, the midfielder will be able to rebuild his career after a frustrating 12 months at Craven Cottage.
