It’s been 15 years since Leeds United were last a Premier League club and this year, under the management of Marcelo Bielsa, is perhaps the best opportunity the club has had to return to the top table of English football.

Leeds have made a really encouraging start to the Championship season, but frustratingly for the Whites, it appears that the division’s promotion race is going to be as tight as it ever is, leaving no guarantees that Bielsa’s side will be a Premier League outfit later in 2019.

What Leeds do over the course of the next month could be crucial to deciding whether they are, with the January transfer window presenting Bielsa a chance to strengthen what is available to him.

So far, Leeds have signed nobody, but that could all change very quickly.

Here at FLW, we identify THREE realistic signings the club should be looking to make this week…

This is probably a position that needs strengthening most this month.

There’s too much reliance on Bailey Peacock-Farrell and Karl Darlow would be the perfect goalkeeping addition.

The Newcastle man has experience and is a good age at 28 to come in and compete with Peacock-Farrell for a starting berth.

This week is the time to get it done.

Leeds have been linked with a move for Zuber, although not much progress has been made in the opening week of the window.

It’s clear another attack-minded players is needed, and the 27-year-old would be perfect.

He can cover multiple positions and has competed at a good level for much of his career.

Leeds need this type of quality signing.

Bielsa will be adamant that a goalkeeper and one winger will be enough this month, but Leeds do look like they are in need of more attacking options.

Ezgjan Alioski and Jack Harrison are good wingers, but they aren’t productive enough, leaving huge pressure on Jack Clarke.

Lowe would be a superb addition at Elland Road. He’s thriving at Portsmouth and looks a real goalscoring threat.

Bielsa would be wise to bring him on board, he’d give Leeds such an edge.
