Hull City are looking to build on their 2-1 victory over Stoke City by causing a shock at Elland Road when they face high-flying Leeds United.

The Tigers are currently 12th in the table and just three points behind the play-off places after their recent 2-1 victory over Stoke City. The play-off picture is incredibly tight at the minute, with just five points separating sixth and 15th in the table currently.

Grant McCann’s side came from behind against Stoke to get back to winning ways following disappointment against Barnsley last weekend. The Tigers are certainly looking up the table this season with their best opportunity in recent years to break into the top six, as few teams are showing the consistency to nail down their place there.

Tomorrow sees Hull face one of their toughest tests yet as they make the trip to second-placed Leeds United, looking to end their run of six straight wins in the Championship.

Here, we take a look at the side we expect McCann to field against Leeds on Tuesday night…

We expect Hull to line up with the same formation as they have done for the majority of the season, which is a 4-4-1-1 setup. It has brought solid balance to the side with potent attack and rigid defence home and away.

In goal will be George Long who is yet to miss a league game for the Tigers and is showing great consistency in his play. In front of him in defence will be the usual lineup of captain Eric Lichaj, Reece Burke, Jordy de Wijs, and Callum Elder. This defensive unit have added to the consistency under McCann, building momentum together by rarely being affected by injuries. It would come as a great shock to see McCann make changes to the defence that has given the attack the platform to win games.

In midfield, the enforced change of Kevin Stewart not in the side will remain as he sits out with a broken metatarsal until late February. In his place in the middle is expected to be Daniel Batty, alongside youngster Leonardo Da Silva Lopes. The pairing started together in the weekend’s win over Hull and they will need another strong performance against Leeds tomorrow.

Out wide will be lively duo Kamil Grosicki and Jarrod Bowen, who have both shown this season that they are indispensable as the Tigers chase the play-off places. Bowen netted two against the Potters from the right-wing and his influence at Elland Road last season was made from the right-wing so it could make sense to keep him out there instead of as a striker.

Playing just behind the striker will be Jackson Irvine, who will have a much more defensive role to do than last time out, with Leeds set to have large amounts of possession on Tuesday night. Irvine has both elements of the midfield battle to his game and that versatility is what should see him start at Elland Road tomorrow night.

Playing in front of him and leading the line will be Tom Eaves, who has the aerial presence to hold up the ball and retain possession for the Tigers when they need it most. Josh Magennis is currently out with a torn hamstring so Eaves is the next best option.
