After a hugely impressive end to the season, Reading fans will be heavily optimistic going into the 2019/20 campaign.

The Royals looked to be a club on a massive downward spiral in the first half of the campaign, with Paul Clement losing his job after a string of disappointing results.

In came Jose Gomes, who despite getting off to a shaky start at the helm of the Berkshire club, then became a huge success at the Madejski Stadium, steering the Royals comfortably away from the Sky Bet Championship relegation zone.

Falling to just three defeats in their last 13 league outings, these results show just how much Gomes has improved life at the club, with fans becoming more united off the pitch too.

After a positive end to the season, the Royals will be hoping for bigger and better things next season, and it seems as if preparations are already underway...

Reports claim that Reading, Queens Park Rangers and Millwall are eyeing up a move for Scunthorpe United talisman Josh Morris, ahead of the new season.

The 27-year old's contract at Glanford Park is set to expire next month, having rejected several fresh contract offers from the club after being a shining light in their relegation to League Two.

The left-sided midfielder, who scored five goals and produced six assists last term, scored 12 goals for the Iron in the 2017/18 season, and an impressive 20 goals the season before that, and has certainly shown signs of being able to make the step-up to the Championship in recent years.

Out of the three clubs interested in the wide-man, you would have to say that Reading would be the most appealing move.

Both QPR and Millwall endured dismal ends to the season, whereas Reading are on the ascent under Gomes.

The way the Portuguese boss likes his team to play would definitely appeal to a creative player like Morris, who has produced plenty of assists during his time with the Lincolnshire club.

And, if you were Morris, you have surely got to be jumping at a chance to play under Gomes at the Madejski next season, as the Royals looking to push for the top-half and beyond.
