Marcelo Bielsa was dealt a huge blow over the international break with a key player being ruled out through injury.

Pontus Jansson has been a crucial member of the squad this season as they battle for promotion to the Premier League this season.

Bielsa's side are currently 3rd in the Championship table and are only three points behind Norwich City who currently occupy top-spot.

The Whites will be looking to bounce back from a real wake-up-call when they were thrashed 4-1 by promotion rivals West Brom before the international break.

But the Leeds boss would have hoped to have had Jansson available for the game against Bristol City this weekend, so news of his latest injury concern will be a problem for Bielsa.

It leaves Leeds with a lack of recognised defensive options as Jansson joins Gaetano Berardi and Luke Ayling on the injury list, which Bielsa will look to have resolved as quickly as possible with a busy festive period edging ever closer.

But who can we expect to see in the defensive unit for Leeds this weekend against Lee Johnson's side?

Find out here....

Douglas' recent return from injury is a huge boost to Leeds' promotion chances as he has looked like an excellent signing since arriving in the summer from Wolves.

If he can stay fit for the remainder of the season, then he will play a vital role in their promotion bid under Marcelo Bielsa in this year's campaign.

Shaughnessy is yet to make an impression for the first-team this season but Bielsa could call on him to replace the injured Pontus Jansson.

The Irishman made nine appearances last season for the Whites and impressed during his brief spell in the side, and having regularly featured for the under 23's this season, he could be called upon for their game against the Robins this weekend.

The Leeds captain has been ever-present in the starting XI for Marcelo Bielsa's side this season.

He has started 15 league games, and his experience and leadership in the Leeds defence will be crucial this season if they are to remain in the promotion-chasing pack.

Phillips was played as a CDM in the defeat to West Brom and had a poor game, so Bielsa could be tempted to play him at centre-back again if Leeds resort to a defensive three.

Phillips impressed in defence in the win over Wigan recently, and it wouldn't be a surprise to see him starting there this weekend.

Dallas hasn't been in the best of form for Leeds this season and at times, has been targeted as the weak link in Marcelo Bielsa's side.

But with Luke Ayling still out injured, Bielsa doesn't have many other senior options available to him at right-back so you can expect to see Dallas retain his place in the starting XI.
