Coventry City will most likely be recruiting for another assault on the League Two promotion places, having slipped to the very fringes of the top seven this season.

They've had an inconsistent season, going from a tight defence but shot-shy forward line to leaking goals like a sieve but looking dangerous at the other end of the field. Fans have never known which Coventry will turn up, the one that blew Lincoln City away at Sincil Bank, or capitulated 6-2 at home against Yeovil.

Mark robins' squad has quality but maybe not the right balance between that and guts. Their recruitment this summer should focus on proven lower league players, or maybe even non-league stars looking for a chance to step up.

After all, Coventry City should be the biggest draw on this stage for a player, bar none. The Ricoh Arena, for all its faults, is a wonderful ground and they're a massive club.

Here are six out of contract players FLW thinks they should be taking a look at this summer.

Lee Burge has looked shaky in recent weeks, conceding goals for fun whilst not instilling his defence with confidence.

In the National League, former Watford keeper Scott Loach has had a good season with Hartlepool, but that shouldn't be his stage. The giant keeper was once tipped for bigger and better things and at just 29-years old he still has a lot to offer.

He would be a great signing to act as pressure on the number one.

One-time West Ham youngster Turgott was promised to be the next big thing, instead he slipped down the divisions and ended up at Maidstone in the National League.

He's scored twice for them recently, but faces a summer without a deal and we think he'd be perfect for a squad place at Coventry. They've lacked an explosive winger since Jodi jones picked up an injury and Turgott might be the answer. If not, what would it cost them to have checked?

Last one from non-league, but aside from Marc McNulty, the Sky Blues have looked a little shot shy. Andy Cook, the Tranmere forward, has not.

27-year old Cook has 27 goals to his name and is begging for a chance to step up to the Football League. He must be worth a look, especially on a free transfer, as Coventry try to find a pairing worthy of League One football.

21-year old Dyson is out of contract at Everton this summer, but has already got experience of League Two having been on loan at Grimsby.

He scored four times whilst at Blundell Park and won their Young Player of the Year, showing enough promise to suggest he could survive in League Two.

With Coventry's facilities and size he would surely pick them over any other offers he might receive.

Wright is a central midfielder of some repute in the lower divisions, having played for Scunthorpe, Gillingham and Southend. He's available on a free from Roots Hall but is exactly the sort of character Coventry need.

If Michael Doyle leaves the club, as expected, then there's going to be a big hole to fill and Wright might be the man to do it.

Hyam has emerged from the Ipswich youth set up but hasn't established himself at Portman Road, making just 17 outings this season. With the new manager not yet named, it looks likely his contract will expire and he'll be free to find another club.

He would be an ambitious signing, but Coventry and Ipswich are not that far apart in terms of club size. He wouldn't be overawed by the Ricoh Arena, but he would be a cut above most of the midfielders on offer.
