It promises to be a very busy summer for Nottingham Forest as Aitor Karanka looks to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion in 12 months time.

The former Middlesbrough boss has already made a lot of changes at the City Ground but the business completed in January didn't really make much of a difference.

Results were frustrating with the Reds particularly weak in front of goal throughout the latter part of the season.

However, Forest need to strenghten in several areas this summer and Karanka will be aware what needs to be done.

Here we look at four players that could come in and help transform Forest...

Signing a goalkeeper on a permanent basis has to be a priority for the Reds and one man who should be available is Rangers Foderingham.

Allan McGregor's arrival at Ibrox suggests the former Swindon man can leave and he would be a capable performer in the Championship.

Forest have been heavily linked with a move for former player Dawson who almost joined the club in January.

He is still a strong player in the second-tier and would bring leadership qualities and a winning mentality to the Forest dressing room.

Another player who Forest have been strongly linked with is Burnley's Dean Marney.

As with Dawson, he would add experience and know-how to the Forest squad and could be an important influence on the squad.

As mentioned, Forest have had major issues in front of goal this season and signing a prolific striker has to be the first thing Karanka does.

And, they could do a lot worse than Marriott. With 27 goals in League One he is clearly ready for the step up and has the movement and calmness in front of goal to excel in the Championship.
