Derby County and Barnsley are interested in signing Bodø/Glimt striker Kasper Junker, according to Norwegian media outlet VG.

Derby are on the lookout for a new centre-forward, as Phillip Cocu looks to bolster his side's attacking options following a disappointing start to the season.

The Rams bid farewell to Chris Martin at the end of last season, and Martyn Waghorn's injury has left Jack Marriott as their only available striker at the moment.

SV Darmstadt's Serdar Dursun has recently been linked with a move to Pride Park, but Kasper Junker is the latest striker to be linked with a switch to the East Midlands.

VG claim that Derby, Barnsley and Wolfsburg have made enquiries for the 26-year-old, who currently plys his trade in Norway for Bodø/Glimt.

Bodø/Glimt currently sit at the top of the Eliteserien - Norway's top division - with Junker scoring 12 goals in 14 league appearances this term, registering seven assists along the way.

The Danish forward arrived from AC Horsens on New Year's Day, and has been in electric form since joining the Norwegian side.

The Verdict

Junker looks to be a really interesting player who could prove to be an excellent signing for Derby.

He's scored 12 goals in 14 games this season in Norway's version of the Premier League, so he's clearly in fantastic form and Derby fans would be hoping that he'd carry that over to England if he made the move.

He looks to be a tall, strong striker, which is exactly what Derby need at the moment.
