Derek Adams is a man who seems to be working under a permanent cloud. Every so often the threat of the sack emerges and he pulls out a win or two, only for things to revert to type over the subsequent weeks.

His Plymouth side face struggling Bradford City this weekend in a huge relegation six-pointer, but the Bantams will be buoyed by the news surrounding their outgoing chairman. There's going to be a wave of optimism around them and that means Plymouth will have to be prepared with a strong squad.

In recent weeks, Adams has played 4-3-3, 4-4-1-1- and a host of other set ups, none of which seem to be the winning formula. Last weekend a strong Pilgrims side were dumped out of the FA Cup by relegation rivals Oxford, but they must rise to the occasion tomorrow.

We're suggesting Adams goes adventurous, in a 4-4-1-1 which could move fluidly to a 4-4-2 when they're attacking, hinged around one of their key players of the last 18 months,

Here's our suggested XI for Plymouth tomorrow.

The on-loan Arsenal man has looked very exciting in the first half of the season.

Plymouth will hope there's no danger of a recall and loan to the Championship, because he looks to be one with an interesting future.

Another Arsenal connection fills in the right back role, Tafari Moore was a Gunner until recently.

His performances have been heartening and he might be set for a swift rise if he keeps impressing.

The youthful element to the defence is continued by Manchester City loanee Smith-Brown.

Whilst the younger players are all well and good on the flanks, if it were contued through the centre there could be problems.

Thankfully, this is the last of the young guns in the back four.

27-year old Songo'o has an odd list of clubs behind him, including Ross County, Kansas City and Blackburn.

He's 27 and experienced, but he can be erratic and often finds himself in the book.

If they're going to climb the division, they might be thinking of a replacement in January.

Canavan is a League One veteran, most of his games came for Scunthorpe United but he's a steady and collected member of the back four.,

Much of the organisation rests on his shoulders but he's a decent player and will surely feature tomorrow.

We think screening the back four is important, hence the presence of 34-year old Fox.

Experience is vital to any side, especially one fighting relegation and Fox has plenty to go around.

Jamie Ness is another ball winning midfielder and if Plymouth are to beat the Bantams, they'll need to win possession and retain it in the middle of the park.

They don't need fancy-dan tricks or flicks, just a no-nonsense approach to midfield play, which is exactly why Ness brings.

On the flank they'll need pace and the odd goals, so we like Ruben Lameiras on the right hand side.

He's got both in him, when he shows up and if he is given the ball he can create openings.

Joel Grant sometimes plays on the left of a front three, but we want him on the left flank of a 4-4-2.

He's another with experience and he has to impart that upon his team mates, as it is vital to them avoiding the bottom four.

Carey has been dropped recently, but he's an enigma who has to play in our eyes.

He has goals and assists and whilst sometimes he's a little greedy, he can make things happen.

We'd have him just off the main striker, roaming free but getting close and picking up the bits and pieces.

Lapado has been in terrific form, certainly as terrific as a striker in a relegation haunted side can be.

He's scored eight in eleven and will need to keep that up if Adams is to remain in a job.
