26-year-old winger poised to make decision on Reading future

Winger Paolo Hurtado is poised to make a decision regarding his future at Championship side Reading, according to reports in Portugal.

The 26-year-old moved to the Madejski Stadium back in 2015 on a three-year deal, yet has found game time particularly hard to come by at the Berkshire outfit in the past few seasons.

The Peru international, capped 25 times by his country, made his debut for the Royals back in September 2015 in a 2-0 win at Bristol City, and earned five more appearances for the club that term before being shipped out on loan to Vitoria Guimaraes in January 2016, where he been plying his trade ever since.

And speculation has been building about his future at Reading given his 18-month stint at the Portuguese outfit, with Vitoria as well as Premier League duo Bournemouth and West Ham reportedly seeking a deal, and Hurtado himself has hinted that a decision will be made very soon indeed.

He said: ‘I’m talking to my agent to make a good decision.

‘I want to go where I can play and where my family can be happy.

‘In Portugal I did well, but I’ll wait this week to define where I’m going to play.’

Hurtado impressed in Portugal last season with nine goals and three assists in 40 appearances for Vitoria, helping them to a fourth place finish in the Primeira Liga, and thus a spot in next season’s Europa League.

But whether the 26-year-old midfielder will be lining up for the Portuguese outfit in European and domestic competition next season remains to be seen, although they may not have long to wait to get an answer.
