Life in League One hasn't provided Sunderland with any challenges they didn't expect and the early-season form looks relatively good.

They'll get an indication of how far they've progressed since relegation this evening as they face Sheffield Wednesday in the League Cup, but whatever the result, promotion is the main aim. There isn't a Black Cats fan in the land who wouldn't swap a win tonight for three points against Scunthorpe on Sunday.

As the days pass by, the deadline for loan signings edges ever-closer and Jack Ross is likely to be adding to his current squad before the window closes. he's already done a huge rebuilding job but there's still work to be done.

The priority will be a centre forward, but it is also likely he'll target a right back to bolster his current options. Here are three deals FLW think would excite fans, if Ross pulled them off.

Fletcher flopped last season, but he would be a big fish in a small pond in League One.

He looks to be a part of Tony Pulis' plans, but only as a fringe player. Sadly, Ross has said he can only offer sporadic football which might scupper any move.

If the manager wasn't so honest about his intentions, certainly in the press, maybe he would attract the sort of player he needs.

It's an outgoing this time, a big earner who presently isn't costing them a penny as he's effectively on strike.

The likes of Djilobodji are a constant reminder of the terrible time the Black Cats have endured recently and any departure of that ilk will be another step away from that period.

The 26-year old could be a big star in League One, but his time at QPR seems to be coming to an end.

Ross has said he can't guarantee first team football to whoever comes in, but if Washington started scoring goals, he would force his way into those first team plans.

He's an experienced professional too, he isn't an academy graduate who will fold under pressure. It would seem a great move and would excite fans, that is for sure.
