Sunderland could be preparing for a January clearout as speculation begins to mount over their players.

While several players have been linked with an exit, one man looks to close to completing his move away from the Stadium Of Light.

According to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie, Dylan McGeough is set to complete a permanent switch to Aberdeen.

The midfielder has struggled with injuries during his time on Wearside, limiting his first team opportunities with the Black Cats.

Reports from Daily Record suggested last month that Dylan McGeouch is was weighing up his future with the club, and with his Sunderland contract set to expire in the summer, it seems that the writing was on the wall for the 26-year-old.

The verdict

Few will be surprised that Dylan McGeouch is close to leaving Sunderland.

It hasn't really worked out for the midfielder at the Stadium Of Light, with the 26-year-old yet to feature under Phil Parkinson.

A move to Aberdeen represents a good opportunity to reignite his career and allows Sunderland to trim the wage bill, making it a good deal for all parties.
