The January transfer window is over a month away, but things are starting to heat up nicely.

The window opening represents an opportunity for clubs up and down the country to take stock of their squads and assess which players could be ready to take a step up to the next level.

One player who looks destined to be the subject of January interest is Jarrod Bowen.

The Hull City star has proven himself as one of the most consistent players in the Championship since making his breakthrough with the Tigers over three years ago.

Since then, Bowen has scored an impressive 47 goals in 105 appearances.

The 22-year-old was linked with a big-money move to Tottenham Hotspur last January, but it was thought that he perhaps wasn't ready to step up to Premier League level.

The same surely can't be said this time around.

Jarrod Bowen has proven himself as being a real threat for Grant McCann's side this term after scoring 12 goals in 18 appearances.

That has led to reports from the Daily Star on Sunday morning suggesting that Newcastle United could be eyeing a January move for the starlet.

If ever there was an argument that Bowen wasn't ready, he certainly made a case for himself against Middlesbrough.

A second half brace and a man of the match display turned a one-sided game at the Riverside completely on its head, and that will be a huge plus for any sides watching on.

The fact that Bowen is capable of taking a Championship match by the scruff of the neck - and doing so on a consistent basis suggests that the 22-year-old may well be ready for a step up to the Premier League.

Can you name every Hull City player of the year from the last 15 season? Have a go!

Clubs are reluctant to do business in the January transfer window due to the apparent lack of value available, but for a club like Newcastle a move for a player like Jarrod Bowen could be the difference between staying up and going down.

Add to that the near-guaranteed sell-on potential, and it's easy to see why the Hull City starlet is attracting such interest.

Of course Jarrod Bowen would love to stay at Hull City and push for promotion with them, but if a top flight team comes in with an offer then the forward is very much deserving of an opportunity to make his name in the Premier League at a time when his best years are very much ahead of him.
