Queens Park Rangers defender Steven Caulker has taken to Instagram to reveal why his proposed move to Lokomotiv Moscow fell through, how he plans to turn his career around and to rubbish newspaper rumours of him having an affair.

Steven Caulker took to Instagram to deny the "outright lies" published "mostly by the undeniable scum that is the Sun" and to tell his side of these stories.

The 25-year-old revealed that he was the one who pulled out of the proposed loan move to Russian outfit Lokomotiv Moscow and because of a lack of fitness, rather than financial reasons.

He also praised Ian Holloway for offering him support off the pitch and stated that he is young enough to turn things around still.

The once-capped England international concluded by saying:

"The media have ruined so many lives in order to make a few pennies - they aren't going to continue to do that here.

"I've made mistakes in my life, thats no big secret and im sorry to anyone i have hurt or offended along the way.

"I'm working hard to correct this and won't let anything get in my way."
