Patrick Bamford has issued a message stating he is gutted by the injury he picked up featuring for Leeds United’s under-23s last week.

Leeds have confirmed that Bamford will miss up to four months of the Championship season with a PCL injury, which he picked up against Bristol City on Friday.

The £7m striker has found himself on the fringe of Leeds’ first-team so far this season, with Kemar Roofe excelling in the lone striker role.

The Whites opted to field Bamford in an under-23 fixture against Bristol City, with the 25-year-old opening the scoring in a 5-0 victory.

However, he was forced off within the first-half after picking up a knee injury, which will rule him out until the New Year.

Bamford has now taken to his personal Twitter account to deliver a message:

In the absence of Bamford, Leeds will head to Millwall on Saturday, with Marcelo Bielsa’s side looking to defend their unbeaten start to the season.

Whilst the Whites will be without Bamford, they could be boosted by the return of Adam Forshaw.

Forshaw hasn’t featured for the Whites yet this season, with the midfielder picking up a pre-season injury.

The Verdict

This is such a big blow for Bamford, but he seems to be in good spirits despite his setback.

Backing his teammates is a classy move, which shows the togetherness of the Leeds dressing room.

Bamford is a good professional, who will be working hard to get himself fit.
