Sheffield United have completed the signing of versatile defender Moses Odubajo.

The 25-year-old arrives at Hillsborough after seeing his contract with Brentford expire this summer.

After missing the start of the season due to a knee injury, Odubajo made 35 appearances for the Bees in the 2018/19 campaign – featuring on both flanks in defence and midfield.

The Leyton Orient academy graduate began his senior career with the O's in League One but has made 117 Championship appearances during spells at Brentford and Hull City.

The defender struggled with some serious injuries prior to his second spell at Brentford and the Owls will be hoping he can stay fit during his time with the Yorkshire club.

Odubajo is Bruce's second signing of the season, after the arrival of German centre-back Julian Borner, who joined from Bundesliga 2 side Arminia Bielefeld yesterday.

The Wednesday boss will be looking to add some additional quality to his squad this summer as he looks to build on their 12th-place finish last season and challenge for the play-offs in the upcoming campaign.

There are question marks over whether Bruce will be the man to lead the Owls in the 2019/20 season, as he is reportedly close to taking over at Newcastle United.

The Verdict

This is a shrewd bit of business from Wednesday, who have added an accomplished Championship player on a free transfer.

Bruce knows the player, having managed him at Hull, and he has done well to secure a reunion this summer.

It will be interesting to see where the Owls utilise Odubajo, given the versatility he showed at Brentford last season.

If he can stay injury-free he could prove an important player for Wednesday in the upcoming season.
