Tranmere Rovers will look to give their hopes of League One survival another boost on Tuesday night, when they make the short trip to Bloomfield Road to face Blackpool.

Back to back wins over Shrewsbury and Accrington have seemingly given the Whites a chance of avoiding relegation this season, and they go into this game 21st in the League One table, six points from safety, with 11 games of their season remaining.

Blackpool meanwhile will start the game 13th in the third-tier standings, having gone unbeaten in their last four games, meaning this is unlikely to be an easy task for Micky Mellon's side.

With that in mind, we've taken a look at the starting lineup the Tranmere boss could name to give his side the best possible chance of claiming all three points from this particular fixture.

Having seemingly found something of a winning formula in recent weeks, we imagine Mellon will be tempted to field a reasonably unchanged side for the trip to Blackpool.

In goal, experienced stopper Scott Davies ought to continue between the posts, having once again been Tranmere's regular starter in that position throughout the course 0f the season so far.

One change Mellon could be tempted to make is in defence, where he may make the decision to rest 38-year-old Peter Clarke following the 90 minutes he played at the weekend, with Manny Monthe a seemingly decent option to come into the side, given his physicality and height likely to prove useful against the threat of the likes of Armand Gnanduillet for Blackpool.

Elsewhere in defence, one of Saturday's goalscorers, Mark Ellis, could partner Monthe in the back four, while the long-serving Luke Ridehalgh and promising youngster Kane Wilson - who set up Ellis for the opener at the weekend - may once again take up the full-back positions.

With Neil Danns set to be assessed after suffering a knock having come off the bench at Accrington, Lee McCullough and Alex Woodyard look as though they ought to be in a strong position to retain their spots in the centre of midfield, with Kieron Morris and Corey Taylor providing the threat from out wide.

Upfront, Tranmere's joint-top league scorer this season, Connor Jennings, could once again provide support for Bradford loanee James Vaughan, who made it two goals in seven appearances since his January move to Prenton Park when he netted what would prove to be the winner on Saturday afternoon.
