There was a notable improvement in Portsmouth over the weekend but it ended in an all too familiar fashion.

Gareth Evans gave Pompey the lead at Fratton Park against Oxford United but once again they conceded late on to throw away three points, with Matt Taylor netting in injury time for the visitors.

They will have the chance to bounce back straight away, however, when Southend United visit in midweek and Jackett and co. will be keen to see a three-point haul.

But under Sol Campbell, Southend will likely be seeing improvements soon so although Portsmouth will go into this as favourites, they will need to keep their wits about them.

So, with that in mind, here is the line-up that we think Jackett should pick on Tuesday night...

Given the performance against Oxford was largely one for the fans to feel positive about,  it is unlikely that too many changes will be made by Jackett.

MacGillivray will of course continue in goal, with Raggett and Burgess likely getting the chance to continue to build their strong relationship, with Brown and the ever-improving McCrorie on either side of them.

Whilst Naylor and Close have perhaps been unspectacular in holding midfield, they remain the best options for the job and have largely been solid throughout the season.

On the right is where we expect a change. Ronan Curtis just has not been at it so far this season and frankly doesn't deserve his place in the starting line-up.

Ellis Harrison should be brought in on the wing to play alongside Evans and Williams as they look to create for Marquis.
