There will have been fears amongst plenty of Hull City supporters that their season could spiral out of control after the departures of both Kamil Grosicki and Jarrod Bowen late into the January transfer window.

The pair had been influential for the Tigers in this year's campaign, with Grosicki scoring eight goals, and Bowen netting 17 goals himself before they left the club.

There is no doubting that they have left a sizeable void in Grant McCann's side this term, but it does give a number of players a chance to impress the Hull City boss for the remainder of this year's campaign.

One player that signed for the club on loan during the January transfer window was Mallik Wilks, with the 21-year-old arriving from relegation-threatened Barnsley.

In our latest FLW Spotlight, we look into Wilks' statistics from this season so far in more detail, and see if he has adjusted well to his new surroundings with the Tigers.

Wilks hasn't been a regular in the Hull City team, with the former Leeds United man only featuring in 234 minutes of action for his new side.

That is something that he'll be hoping can change in the near future though, as he looks to show Grant McCann what he can offer the Hull team going forward.

Wilks netted his first goal for the Tigers last weekend, as his deflected strike saw Hull rescue a point against Berkshire-based Reading on Saturday.

The 21-year-old took one touch inside the Royals penalty-area before firing over Rafael in the Reading goal to see the Tigers head back to the KCOM Stadium with something to show for their efforts.

Wilks has had seven touches in the opposition's penalty area since signing for Hull, and he'll be hoping he can continue to get in the right positions as the season progresses this term.

The versatile Hull City forward has operated out wide for the majority of his minutes so far with McCann's side, and has showcased his impressive range of passing, with Wilks being successful in 25 out of the 44 passes he has attempted so far for his new club.

One area in particular that has stood out so far for Wilks is the number of successful dribbles he has had to date with Hull. The former Barnsley man has been successful in nine out of the 14 dribbles he has made so far this season, which is a real positive that he'll be confident of building on.

It remains to be seen as to whether he's the man to fill the void left by either Kamil Grosicki or Jarrod Bowen, but the early stages of his time with the club are certainly promising.

Wilks and his Hull City team-mates are next in action on Tuesday evening, when they face Blackburn Rovers in what is set to be a tricky test for Grant McCann's side.
