After a season that promised so, so much it all ended in disappointment for Portsmouth when they were so close to glory.

Automatic promotion looked like a real possibility for Kenny Jackett's side but they had to settle for the play-offs and having already won at Wembley earlier in the campaign, they will have confident of doing the same again.

However, it was Sunderland who got the better of them in the semi-finals in what was a tightly thought contest over two legs and a 1-0 aggregate scoreline was all it took for the Black Cats to progress.

Having introduced a host of impressive attacking talent to the nation's attention over the course of the season, Pompey could now be at the mercy of the transfer window.

And that seems to be the way things will go with Sky Sports reporting that both Cardiff City and Wigan Athletic were interested in signing winger Jamal Lowe.

Lowe scored 17 goals in all competitions for Pompey last season but is entering the final year of his deal.

But how will he be feeling with this latest update?

He may have had an excellent time at Portsmouth but Lowe will surely feel this is an opportunity he has to take.

There is no guarantee that Pompey will be as strong next season so I would imagine he will be keen to break into the Championship whilst he can.

They are two teams where he is likely to play as well and I would be surprised if he is not keen to move to either side.
