Ben Osborn has revealed he's enjoying life at the City Ground at the moment after being handed a more advanced role under Aitor Karanka.

He's recently been moved into a bank of three midfielders supporting a lone striker and the move has immediately paid dividends. He created both goals against Sheffield Wednesday last week and won the penalty which settled their tie with Rotherham on Saturday.

The Derby-born midfielder reveals he's relishing the freedom a more attacking role has brought him.

“I feel like I do enjoy it more, naturally, because I am attacking more, instead of being defensive minded," he told the Nottingham Post. "You can also press from the front. I feel as though I have more influence up there, it just feels more natural to me."

“I feel as though I can be more of an influence there and I am more confident. I prefer to play more centrally but, with the way we play, I have the freedom to come inside anyway. So it is not as if I am stuck out on the flank. The way we play, I would say this is probably my preferred position.”

Osborn was capped up to Under 20 level for England and has made 186 senior appearances for Forest during his tenure at the City Ground. He was ever-present in the Championship for them last season and the season before.

The Verdict

Osborn is a cracking player and his recent form has begun to hint at that continuing throughout Karanka's reign as manager.

He certainly looked comfortable against the Owls last week, creating a wonderful goal for Carvalho and being a nuisance the entire game. He's a crowd favourite at the City Ground and rightly so.
