Plymouth star Ruben Lameiras has been linked with a move to French side Bordeaux, as reported by the Guardian.
The 24-year-old hasn’t been able to keep the Pilgrims out of the bottom four this season and along with Graham Carey, is out of contract as the final day approaches.
With Derek Adams having been fired, the future looks uncertain for the Portuguese midfielder, but it seems he could be offered a surprise route into Ligue 1 with Bordeaux.
They’re thought to be sending a scout to the upcoming clash with Scunthorpe United, a winner-takes-all match that will see one, if not both, of the clubs relegated to League Two.
Lameiras has been in good form, as good as can be in a side drowning so badly. He’s bagged 12 goals for the Pilgrims and has stood out as a key player, even as they’ve struggled for a foothold in the division.
With the former Tottenham youth player’s contract up at the end of the season, it seems this weekend’s fixture could be the last time he features in the famous green of Argyle.
This would be a sensational move for Lameiras, but he ought to pay heed to Josh Maja’s experiences. He’s not settled well at Bordeaux and is struggling to break into the first team.
Lameiras does have to leave Argyle though, they’re not in a good place right now and at 24, he can’t afford many more years holding together a broken team.
