Middlesbrough’s Connor Ripley is in-demand this summer, with Oldham Athletic keen to re-sign the goalkeeper ahead of next season, reports the Northern Echo.

The League One outfit are keen to recruit a new goalkeeper this summer, and have identified Ripley, 24, as a target after an impressive loan spell at Boundary Park last season.

John Sheridan’s side took Leeds United’s Bailey Peacock-Farrell on trial last week, with a view to signing the goalkeeper on-loan. However, Oldham pulled out of a deal and have now turned their attentions back to Ripley.

Ripley excelled in League One last season, making 54 appearances across all competitions, which includes featuring in every league fixture for the Latics.

The 24-year-old kept 19 clean sheets for Oldham, helping the club avoid relegation in League One.

The likelihood of Boro letting Ripley leave this summer depends on their own activity in the transfer market, with Garry Monk in desperate need of new goalkeepers heading into the 2017/18 campaign.

Last season’s first choice duo, Brad Guzan and Victor Valdes, have both left the Riverside Stadium, leaving Monk short of options ahead of Boro’s return to the Sky Bet Championship.

The Teessiders are making progress in their search for a new goalkeeper, with Darren Randolph on the verge of signing for Boro in a £4.5m deal from West Ham United.
