Leeds United fans will be pleased with Marcelo Bielsa's ruthlessness in clearing out the so-called 'deadwood' at Elland Road in the summer, and one player who looks set to make his loan move a permanent one is Caleb Ekuban.

Ekuban was loaned out to Turkish side Trabzonspor when Bielsa took charge at Leeds in the summer and he has impressed whilst out on loan with the Turkish outfit.

Ekuban has netted three times already this season and will be hoping to get more regular game time under his belt for the remainder of his spell in Turkey.

According to Turkish media outlet, Fotomac, Trabzonspor are considering making the deal a permanent one at the earliest possible opportunity.

The 24-year-old was signed by former Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen and hasn't hit the heights that were expected of him in his time at Elland Road.

Ekuban has made 20 appearances in total for the Whites since he arrived in 2017, but having scored only once, it's clear to see why Bielsa is happy to let the striker further his career away from the Championship club.

It is thought that Ekuban currently has a release clause of €1m and if he can continue to impress, then it is likely the Turkish top-flight side will activate that.

The Verdict

It's no surprise to see Ekuban heading for the exit door at Elland Road.

Leeds have far better options available to them up-front this season with Kemar Roofe, Tyler Roberts and Patrick Bamford all certainly ahead of Ekuban in the pecking order.

If he has any ambition of furthering his development, then he will do everything he can to impress Trabzonspor for the remainder of his loan spell, in the hope that they will activate his release clause to make the deal a permanent one.
