Blackburn and Aston Villa will be looking to get back to winning ways after suffering heavy defeats before the international break.

Rovers lost 4-1 to Bristol City at Ashton Gate, whereas Villa fell to the same scoreline at Sheffield United to make it four games without a victory.

Whilst Tony Mowbray's men have still had a decent start to the season, Steve Bruce will be wanting a lot more from his side, who will be expecting to compete for a top-two place this season.

However, they will find it tough at Ewood Park, where Blackburn are yet to taste defeat this season.

Therefore, it would be an impressive for Villa if they could leave Lancashire with three points, but they will be hopeful of doing so after a busy end to the window.

The likes of Yannick Bolasie and Tammy Abraham have been added to Bruce's squad and could make a big impact.

However, would they get into a combined XI between the two sides?

We take a look...

Firstly, you'd have to say that the goalkeeping position at Villa is a real problem with Orjan Nyland seriously struggling since arriving in England.

As well as that, Raya has done well for Rovers over the past 12 months and is a good goalkeeper.

Bruce is a big fan of the Egypt international, and he has been a steady, consistent performer since linking up with his former boss at Villa Park.

The former West Brom man is a top Championship player and whilst he has struggled at points this season, he is still an easy choice.

The Rovers centre-backs, Mulgrew and Darragh Lenihan have both been strong performers over the years, but the Scotsman is just ahead of his teammate.

He is a leader for the team and offers real quality with his left-foot from set-plays.

Even though he has struggled this season, Hutton was fantastic last season and if he can get back to his best he is still a quality player at this level.

The first name that most would pick.

Grealish is a cut above most in the league and Villa's best player by some distance.

The former Hibs midfielder has settled in well to English football, impressing with his energy and all-round ability.

You could make a strong case to include El-Ghazi, but he is still adapting to his new surroundings.

Therefore, we'd go for Palmer, who has shown flashes of his ability already in a Rovers shirt and could develop into a star player in this team.

The 24-year-old is another easy choice.

Dack is Rovers' talisman and a fantastic player at this level with his ability and how much he contributes in the final third.

Bolasie has struggled since his awful injury, but if he can get anywhere near back to his best he would tear up the Championship.

He has pace, power and is extremely skilful, meaning he will be a nightmare for opposition full-backs.

There aren't too many strikers who would keep Jonathan Kodjia out, but you'd have to start with Abraham.

Landing the Chelsea youngster was terrific business for Villa and he will become a key man this season.
