Nottingham Forest can start looking ahead to next season with renewed optimism after securing back-to-back wins in their last two matches.

Martin O'Neill had been facing an uncertain future at the City Ground after an underwhelming second half of the season, but their form at the end of the campaign has provided positive signs for next term.

Forest edged past Queens Park Rangers on Saturday in what was O'Neill's first away victory as Reds' boss after previously failing to oversee any success on the road during his tenure.

However, it is likely there will still be a sizeable squad overhaul in the East Midlands as O'Neill looks to assemble a squad that can implement his ideas.

But the club does have some young talents in their ranks, with many currently gaining first-team experience elsewhere.

Centre-back Joe Worrall has impressed since joining Rangers on loan in January, while Tyler Walker has been scoring for fun at Mansfield since the start of the season.

However, there is one youngster who will be fearing for the future after his loan spell failed to turn out how he might have hoped.

Jorge Grant has spent the season on loan at Luton Town, who have just sealed their promotion from League One, but the winger has failed to make a considerable impact at the club.

He has featured 17 times for the Hatters this season and has scored two goals in the process, but he has often been left on the bench in recent weeks. It seems unlikely that Mick Harford will be looking to keep the youngster at the club this season.

His record is far less impressive than that of Worrall and Walker this season with the former registering 21 appearances in the Scottish Premiership since January, while Walker has scored 19 goals in 39 appearances in League Two.

Grant has one year remaining on his Forest contract, but this troubled loan spell has now cast doubt over his future with O'Neill's side.

He is also reaching a pivotal moment in his career, as he is already 24 and needs to be playing regular football. This means he may well need to move on from Forest in order to progress his career, unless he can impress O'Neill on his return to Forest in pre-season.
