Portsmouth midfielder Cameron McGeehan was off the mark quickly for his new side last night as his first goal for the club helped the League One outfit to a 2-1 victory over Scunthorpe United in the Leasing.com Trophy.
It marks what has been a great start to the midfielder’s loan spell on the south coast since completing a temporary move from Barnsley earlier this month.
McGeehan had previously found his game time largely limited at Oakwell, making a total of just 14 appearances for the Tykes, including only 10 starts for the Championship outfit.

The move to Portsmouth has seemingly given the former Luton Town man a new lease of life and the 24-year-old was quick to take to Instagram to express his delight at getting off the mark for his new side:
The signing of McGeehan has proven to be a shrewd piece of business for Kenny Jackett so far and his past experience of playing for the likes of Luton and Barnsley at various levels of the Football League pyramid will no doubt serve the south coast club in good stead as they seek to break into the play-off places.
And the midfielder will be keen to make another lasting impact for Pompey on the 28th January, with the player not available to play against his parent club Barnsley in this weekend’s FA Cup tie.
