Blackburn Rovers will be looking to get back to winning ways quickly on Tuesday night, when they host Hull City at Ewood Park.

Tony Mowbray's side saw their ten-game unbeaten run at home come to an end over the weekend, suffering a 1-0 defeat at home to promotion-chasing Fulham.

The Lancashire side will therefore need a swift response to that setback to keep their play-off hopes alive, and go into this game with a six-point deficit to those top-six spots with 15 games of the season remaining.

Hull meanwhile will start the match 14th in the Championship table, four points behind their hosts, and Mowbray has spoken of the threat they will still pose, despite the loss of key players Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki during the January transfer window.

With that in mind, we've taken a look at the starting lineup Mowbray could name to give his Blackburn side the best possible chance of picking up all three points on Tuesday night.

With their attacking midfield options being handed yet another injury blow pre-match with the news that Joe Rankin-Costello is set to miss the clash with Hull due to a hamstring problem, Rovers may be forced to abandon their traditional 4-2-3-1 formation, with Bradley Dack, Lewis Holtby and Joe Rothwell all longer-term absentees in that position.

If that does happen, then a switch to a more standard 4-4-2 formation could be an option for Mowbray to explore.

In goal Christian Walton - who saved a Jarrod Bowen penalty in a 1-0 win for Blackburn at Hull back in August - put in arguably his best performance since that win at the KCOM Stadium in Rovers' defeat to Fulham at the weekend, and will surely continue in goal against the Tigers.

Likewise, the back-four of Ryan Nyambe, Tosin Adarabioyo, Darragh Lenihan and Amari'i Bell did well to restrict Fulham for the majority of Saturday's match, and ought to start as the defensive line again on Saturday, injuries permitting.

Ahead of them, while Sam Gallagher has featured on the right-wing this season, a switch to 4-4-2 may be a step too deep in the field for the natural centre forward, meaning club captain Elliott Bennett could return to the side in a more familiar position to the ones the utility man has previously been used in this season.

On the left, Rankin-Costello's absence means Stewart Downing looks a good bet to continue on that side of the midfield, which leaves Bradley Johnson and Lewis Travis as the obvious options in the centre of the park.

Upfront, Adam Armstrong will be looking to return to his impressive recent form following his uncharacteristically quiet outing - by recent standards - against Fulham, with the 23-year-old looking for his tenth goal in all competitions this season, having scored for Rovers in their 3-0 win over Hull at Ewood last January.

Alongside Armstrong, the experience of Danny Graham - who caused the Tigers' defence all sorts of problems during that fixture last year - ought to make the veteran striker the best option to link up with Armstrong at the head of Rovers' attack.
