Brendan Galloway has opened up about his move from Everton to Luton Town ahead of the upcoming Championship campaign.
The full-back joined the Hatters on a free transfer earlier this month and made his debut for his new side in their 3-1 victory over Welwyn Garden City on July 6th.
Speaking to Luton Today about why he made the switch to Kenilworth Road, Galloway admitted: “I think it’s the right move.
“The way that the team’s had a lot of success and the way that the new manager wants to play, I’m just really excited to be a part of that, I think it’s the perfect fit for me.
“It’s always frustrating as a 23-year-old, the big thing is playing football and if I wasn’t getting in the first team, then I want to go out and play U23s, because I love the game.
“If I’m not playing for the first team, I’m not a big ego, I’ll go and do my best for whoever I can.”
The 24-year-old’s decision to leave Goodison Park has seen him re-unite with Graeme Jones who he worked under when the Luton boss was Roberto Martinez’s assistant at Everton.
Galloway’s latest comments are sure to please the majority of Hatters supporters as he seems determined to prove his worth next season for his new side.
Having been limited to just 21 appearances for the Toffees after bursting onto the scene in 2015 as a teenager, the defender could benefit massively from being given a fresh start by Luton after experiencing mixed fortunes during loan spells with West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland.
Although predominately a left-back, Galloway has also demonstrated in the past that he is capable of producing the goods as a centre-back which is something that could come in handy for Jones if the Hatters find themselves short defensively due to injury or suspension.
Whereas there is no doubting that the former Milton Keynes Dons ace has a big task on his hands to fill the void left by the recently-departed James Justin, if he can hit the ground running for Luton, there is no reason why he cannot become a domineering presence at the back for the Bedfordshire-based outfit.
