Reading fans must have been pinching themselves when the draw was made for the third round of the FA Cup a month or so ago - with the Royals set to travel to Manchester United for the third time in six seasons.

A trip to Old Trafford is often the dream for many lower-league supporters, so Royals fans will be feeling extremely lucky to be travelling to the Premier League giants once again.

If only they had this kind of luck on the pitch, however - Jose Gomes has a monumental task on his hands of keeping the Berkshire club up this season, with the club sitting 23rd in the Sky Bet Championship table, five points adrift of safety after just one win in thirteen games.

So while a trip to the Theatre of Dreams may be a luxury for Gomes' men, their precarious position in the league table could mean that the Portuguese boss rests some of his key players, to save them for what is bound to be a huge next few games for the future of Reading Football Club.

Here, we take a look at the Reading XI Jose Gomes should play, against a rejuvenated Manchester United tomorrow afternoon...

Jaakkola has been a regular for Reading for the large part of this season, and despite strong competition from Sam Walker, there is no reason why that should change against United.

Welsh international Chris Gunter could return for this one - the 29-year old has been out in recent weeks due to a muscle injury but his experience could be beneficial for Reading here.

It's bound to be an enjoyable day for O'Shea as he comes up against his former club - the Irishman made over 250 appearances for the Red Devils during a twelve-year stint with the club. He only has the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to contend with on Saturday!

With Tyler Blackett still out with suspension, this could be a toss-up between Tiago Ilori and Liam Moore. With the latter edging a closer to a return from injury, an appearance here could help him get back into the swing of things.

What an experience it's bound to be for youngster Omar Richards on Saturday - the 20-year old completes a defence that has one change from the one that lost 4-1 to Swansea on New Year's Day.

What another fantastic experience it'll be for another youngster on Saturday - Rinomhota has quickly emerged as a Royals' fans' favourite this season and provides real tenaciousness in midfield.

With Saied Ezatolahi and Leandro Bacuna both out due to injury and suspension respectively, Liam Kelly will look to come in and impress new boss Gomes after a few unused substitute appearances.

Fresh from scoring a consolation for the Royals against Swansea, Harriott deserves a chance to impress Gomes once again here. Similarly, the Royals should look to rest Garath McCleary ahead of an important few games.

John Swift will be looking to come in for Sone Aluko this weekend to add more strength the Royals midfield.

After coming off the bench to assist Harriott on New Year's Day, youngster Loader also deserves his chance to impress Gomes, as well as having a run out at Old Trafford - ultimately giving Mo Barrow a rest.

The Royals have several options up front here, but Yakou Meite has been a regular for the Royals in recent times and could be a real handful for United.
