Leeds United's promotion push slipped away through January, at about the same time that Blackburn Rovers kickstarted their bid to get out of League One.

Tony Mowbray's Rovers are just a point away from the automatic promotion spots having strung together a strong run of form and will expect to remain in the promotion picture until the end of the season.

One man who is not a part of Leeds' faltering bid to make the big time but is playing a role in Rovers' attempts to get out of the third tier is Marcus Antonsson, who is on loan from Elland Road to Ewood Park.

We've run the numbers on Antonsson's season at Blackburn so far to decide whether Leeds made a mistake letting him leave the club.

He has eight goals to his name this season, which is as many as anyone has mustered at Elland Road - Kemar Roofe and Pierre-Michel Lasogga can match it - but with the obvious caveat that he has been playing at a lower level.

However, as Leeds toiled through the January transfer window, it can't be ignored that they have a player on their books who is currently scoring goals for a historic English club looking for promotion - but not them.
