Leeds United currently sit in second place with just ten matches left of the season, two points ahead of Sheffield United in third place and two behind league-leaders Norwich City, but attentions turned briefly back to transfers.

The Whites are apparently keen on bringing in former Athletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Iturraspe, a former favourite of Marcelo Bielsa during his time with the Basque club.

The Spaniard is a free-agent at the end of the season after being with the club for 20 years, racking up 319 appearances in that time as a deep lying midfielder.

But he has found opportunities hard to come by this season, struggling with a foot injury, racking up just two La Liga appearances.

They face relegation threatened Reading at the Madjeski tonight as they look to move a step closer to that much-desired promotion and Kalvin Phillips is someone who will no doubt be central once again to any success.

But how will he be feeling following this latest link?

Phillips has been excellent in central midfield for Leeds this season, progressing imeasurably under Marcelo Bielsa.

So it is likely that this latest rumour will leave him somewhat taken aback and surely won’t be happy with it in the slightest.

He will rightly feel that he has earned the chance the to start in the Premier League next season if the Whites are promoted but Iturraspe’s arrival could indicate a change in heart from Bielsa.

There is of course a chance that Phillips is still the main man in his manager’s eyes, but it will need clarifying soon.
