DeAndre Yedlin has expressed he is feeling good after his return from injury and is ready to help Newcastle United achieve promotion in the coming weeks, reports the Shields Gazette.

The right-back has impressed at St James’ Park this season, making 30 appearances across all competitions, but suffered a thigh injury in February, which kept him out of first-team action for a sustained period.

The 23-year old made his comeback in Newcastle’s 1-1 draw with Leeds United on Good Friday, appearing as a second-half substitute, before completing 78-minutes of Monday’s defeat to Ipswich Town.

After making his comeback over a busy Easter period, Yedlin said: “I’m feeling pretty good. I can get sharper, but, fitness-wise, I feel pretty good.”

Yedlin expressed how frustrated he has been recently, before declaring he is ready to help the Magpies achieve promotion in the Sky Bet Championship, he continued: “It’s been frustrating being sidelined, because you always want to be playing, but now I’m back and I will do everything I can to help the team reach our goal.”

Rafa Benitez’s side are without a victory in their last three Championship fixtures, but will be looking to return to winning ways and continue their quest for automatic promotion this weekend, when Preston North End visit St James’ Park.

The Magpies are currently second in the table, and require just five-points from their remaining three fixtures, to guarantee promotion back to the Premier League.
