Caleb Ekuban is set to make his first appearance since mid-August this weekend, with the Leeds United forward in-line for a return to the matchday 18 for Sunday’s clash with Middlesbrough, reports the Yorkshire Evening Post’s, Phil Hay.

Thomas Christiansen has been without Ekuban, 23, since August’s trip to Sunderland, after the striker suffered a broken foot on what was just his second appearance since his summer move to Leeds.

Ekuban, who has a goal and an assist to his name from his two appearances, has been back in training for a number of weeks now, and will be in contention for Sunday’s clash with Boro, much to Christiansen’s delight.

Leeds will be looking to end a miserable run of form against Boro, with Christiansen’s side without a victory at Elland Road since late September and also having suffered seven defeats in their last nine Championship outings.

Christiansen’s side enter the weekend’s fixtures in 10th, but will also be boosted by the availability of Stuart Dallas, who despite returning from international duty with an injury, will be in contention.

Whilst Leeds have endured a torrid run of form, Middlesbrough are on the rise, having won their last three Championship fixtures, which has propelled them into the top-six.

The Verdict

This is encouraging news for Leeds heading into Sunday’s fixture, with Ekuban’s return eagerly anticipated by the club’s supporters.

Pierre-Michel Lasogga has struggled to make a major impact in attack, and the 23-year-old’s return will ease some of the growing pressure on the German.

Christiansen will also be encouraged by Dallas’ availability, but it is doubtful he will be risked after a gruelling international break.
